Sometimes a validation doesn't apply the way you expected — a guest paid at the lot anyway, or our cameras didn't read their plate. You can apply an override after the fact.
When to use an override
- The guest already paid. They didn't see your validation message and paid at the lot. The validation was wasted; you'd like to refund them.
- The camera missed the plate. Your guest's plate was misread, leading to a violation.
- A validation expired before the guest arrived. They were running late and didn't make the window.
How to apply an override
- Open Validate.
- Search for the validation by plate or guest name.
- Click the validation, then click Override.
- Choose the action: refund the guest's payment, void a violation, or extend the validation window.
- Add a note explaining why — this gets logged for audit.
Limits on overrides
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.
- Voiding a violation requires the original violation reference number. You can usually find it in the visitor's notice email.
- Overrides are logged. If you're seeing a pattern (e.g., one parker repeatedly needing overrides), it's worth investigating the root cause.
